Blog-July 21
Parish Council Blog
July 2021
Hello again, welcome back for this second blog from the Parish Council and thank you joining me again, hopefully you found last month informative and answered any questions you had. Please let us know if I can cover a topic that you would like to learn more about.
This month we are looking into Gretton’s Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
You may have noticed some new yellow Neighbourhood Watch signs going up around the Village and wondered what they are all about, well wonder no more, read on and discover.
What is Neighbourhood Watch, I hear you ask?
Well, the main aim of the Scheme is to ‘help prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime including the raising of awareness about scams and scamming methods, improve safety including road and fire safety and encourage neighbourliness with a supportive spirit across our community’
At its heart its about bringing neighbours together with a joint purpose of increasing neighbourliness and community spirit and reducing opportunities for crime by creating a stronger community.
What does being a member mean?
Being a member means being a good citizen in your community. So being more vigilant (not curtain twitching) will help you and your neighbours feel safe. Plus it doesn’t cost anything to join (and may get a discount on your insurance premium), all they ask is that you absorb the alerts and advice received via email.
How do you join?
You can contact Mel Jarvis on 07790 003653 or email nhwgretton@gmail.com, as our local Scheme Coordinator he is happy to answer any questions you might have or to help you join the scheme.
Gretton is a safe village, and we want to keep it that way.
So that’s the second blog done, if you have any questions, views or concerns regarding anything the Parish Council would love to hear from you, please email our Clerk Jackie on clerkgpc@btinternet.com
